Spotlight on the Actors: Katie

Throughout the pilgrimage to #Krakow2016, World Youth Day in Poland, we will introduce you to our actors. Please comment to encourage and connect with them!

Youth ministers have a specialized superpower. Anyone will nod in agreement after spending time in the room with Katie Yankoski and her teens ("youth") at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Richmond, Virginia.

Another gift God has given her is musical, on key, and eloquently beautiful. Though she loves the teenagers she works with, her passion is leading people in worship through song. She's led anything from small group breakout concerts with a few voices and a guitar to diocesan-wide Women's conferences. And this July, she's taking that voice to the state in Krakow for World Youth Day 2016.

Katie received her undergraduate degree in music from the University of Virginia in 2010 and her graduate degree in pastoral ministry from Santa Clara University in 2012. The Jeweler’s Shop is her first-ever acting performance, but she loves how it makes St. Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body come alive! She's also known to make an addictive cookie and cake or two. Currently, her favorite Bible quote is “for nothing will be impossible for God” (Luke 1:37).

Follow along her youth ministry shenanigans by visiting her blog, breath[e]. If you ask nicely, she might even bake for you.
